It's the 25th century. Science has brought the world full circle, energy ran out and life became simpler, with less gas there are few automobiles and so people walk and ride bicycles and only dimly remember that it was once so different.
Here and there are reminders of a past when machines were everywhere. So we find the "Scorpion Robot Baseball Catcher" still working and catching baseballs at the local sand lot. It catches the ball and shoots it back to the pitcher with it's powerful tail cannon.
The Scorpion Robot also pitches, but does so with such deadly accuracy, a fact many a player has discovered to their cost. Few players can score a hit against the Scorpion.
Looking as if it could walk away any moment the Scorpion is made of wood but looks like metal. It features a concealed halogen light in the tail cannon and the sinister red moving eye in the style of the Battlestar Galactica Sylon robot.
The Scorpion Robot stand 38 inches high and measures 38 inches at it's widest. A movie buff might be reminded of the giant robot in the Will Smith movie "Wild West." As with all the Flannery creations the Scorpion is a great conversation piece and attracts curiosity and interest whenever it is seen.
